BUTTONS

"Jayne, what's wrong- what's happened?" he asked in a rush of words.

"Well...er, do you remember last time we were in Florida?"

"Yes, of course - what about it...?" replied Jim.

"Do you remember when we signed up to sponsor an animal at WildWorld at Miami?"

"Yeah, We sponsored 'Buttons the Chimp'. We've got his photo on the fridge door, why? has something happened to him?" asked Jim.

"No, well yes, er, kind of..." replied Jayne.

Jim frowned - this really wasn't like her. She was usually very precise in her answers.

"What is it Jayne, what's happened?" He was now both concerned and confused.

"You'd better come and see for yourself" said Jayne, leading him downsatirs.

Most of the hallway was taken up by a large wooden packing case. Jim raised his eyebrows in surprise. "what is it?" he asked.

"It's Buttons the Chimp!!!" she exclaimed.

"Jim smiled -"What do you mean?"

"You'd beter read this." said Jayne as she handed him an A4 envelope packed full of papers and documents.

Ten minutes and a lot of legal jargon later, Jim looked up at his wife and said, "So let me get this right. The old man who owned WildWorld in Florida died and left us a chimp in his will - But why? We didn't even know him. We've only been to WildWorld twice." Jim struggled to make sense of the situation.

" Why would a man we don't know leave us a Chimpanzee in his will? It just doesn't make any sense!"

In way of response, and some thing that was a laughing point for years after, another envelope appearedthis time from inside the packing case!

It fell from one of the three inch wide air holes that were dotted around the top of the case.
